Dr. Wayne Childers joined TUSP in 2010 as an associate professor and associate director of the Moulder Center for Drug Discovery Research following a long and successful career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr. Childers was awarded tenure in 2016 and was promoted to full professor in 2021 in recognition of his academic accomplishments and contributions to TUSP and the University.

He is an author on nearly 100 peer-reviewed papers, reviews and book chapters and an inventor on over 50 patents. As a result of his teaching acumen, Dr. Childers was awarded the Golden Apple Award for Innovation in Teaching in 2013, AACP Teacher of the Year in 2014 and the fall Star of the Semester award in 2023.

Since 2024 he has served as the Director of Graduate Studies, contributing to the establishment of the newly launched MS degrees and certificate programs that enhance the educational mission of the school.

True to Temple's entrepreneurial mission, three discoveries from Dr. Childers' lab, one for the treatment of diabetes and two for treating cancer, have been out-licensed to pharmaceutical companies for development.
