125 Heroes: Michael Renzulli ’63

Michael Renzulli ’63

Michael Renzulli graduated from Temple University School of Pharmacy in 1963 and began his career as a purchaser for his family’s drugstore in Philadelphia, owned by his father Dante , a 1939 graduate of TUSP. In 1972, he joined Sally Beauty Holdings, then one of the first retailers to offer professional beauty supplies on a cash-and-carry basis. The blending of consumer and professional distribution became a key driver of the company’s growth, and under Mr. Renzulli’s leadership, Sally Beauty Holdings expanded from a small regional supplier to a global enterprise with more than 3,000 stores worldwide.

The Renzulli Family Scholarship Fund was established in 2009 to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional leadership during their tenure at the School of Pharmacy. At the time, this was the largest gift in the School's history.

Mr. Renzulli’s commitment also helped the School raise an additional funds in matching gift contributions to strengthen the School of Pharmacy’s endowment. He is proud to be a third-generation TUSP alumnus; his grandfather, Michele Renzulli, was a member of the Class of 1918 and later served as a professor at the School.
