Mel Brodsky graduated from Temple School of Pharmacy in 1966 and moved to the Chicago area to practice pharmacy with a small chain.  After 3 years, he moved back to Philadelphia to open his own independent pharmacy. In 1969, he opened Parkway Drugs and remained owner until 1997.

He became a member of the Philadelphia Association of Retail Druggists (PARD) in 1969, serving as a Board Member/officer until becoming Executive Director from 2012-2021. In 1996 through the cooperation of PARD, Mel and colleagues started the Keystone Pharmacy Alliance which became the largest Independent Pharmacy Buying Group in Pennsylvania. He served as CEO from 1996 till 2012. He has tirelessly advocated on behalf of independent pharmacy for 55 years. 

He became a member of TUSPAA in 1969 and has been a member/board member since then, serving as treasurer for 6 years and is currently a life-time member.  Mel serves presently on the TUSPAA golf committee whose golf outings have brought in approximately $50,000 to the Scholarship Fund in the last 4 years.

Over the years, Mel has been recognized with numerous professional awards, including George S. Maggio Award and the Mortar and Pestle Award from the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association as well as the Ralph J. Ippoliti Award from Philadelphia Association of Retail Druggists. He also received the Joseph Sprowls Lecture Award from the TUSPAA. He served as the Past President of the Federation of Pharmacy Networks and as a Past Board Member of the Academy of Independent Pharmacists."
