Ina Lee Calligaro, PharmD, B.S. ’79

Ina Lee Calligaro, PharmD, served at TUSP from 1989-2021. Dr. Calligaro championed curriculum development and led five comprehensive ACPE reviews, ensuring accreditation for the PharmD program. She received a BS in education from Boston University, graduated from Temple's undergraduate pharmacy program in 1979, and received her PharmD degree from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. Dr. Calligaro developed Temple's part-time PharmD program in 1990, the first in Philadelphia.

Her administrative career included roles as department chair, assistant dean for education, and senior associate dean for professional programs. She was a founding member of Temple University's Health Science interprofessional Education Committee and was a faculty fellow for Temple's Center for Teaching and Advancement. Concurrently, she provided expertise as a pediatric clinical specialist in Temple’s neonatal ICU.

In recognition of her many achievements, Dr. Calligaro received the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1995. Dr. Calligaro’s scholarly contributions include the textbook Drugs Used with Neonates and During Pregnancy and editorial responsibilities for The Merck Manual’s pediatric pharmacology content. She served in prominent leadership roles within the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, including as chair of the Council of Faculties and the AACP Board of Directors
