Dr. Momah, class of 2006, is the CEO and pharmacist-in-charge at Springfield Pharmacy, a community pharmacy in Delaware County, PA. It is also a part of the Good Neighbor Pharmacy network, an independently owned and operated pharmacy network.
Dr. Momah is best known for her work in vaccine access advocacy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, Delaware County – home to nearly 600,000 residents, did not have its own public health department. This made it extremely difficult to promote public health practices and roll out vaccinations amongst patient communities.
Understanding these structural gaps and barriers, Dr. Momah advocated with the House of Representatives and the PA Department of Public Health. In 2021, Springfield Pharmacy was chosen to be one of the first sites in Delaware County to provide COVID-19 vaccines. Dr. Momah’s persistence and advocacy led to a crucial success: her pharmacy successfully administering 100,000 COVID vaccines to patients across the county.
Dr. Momah is a role model for many pharmacy trainees and practicing pharmacists. She always goes an extra mile to help her patients, especially those who are uninsured, underinsured, have a language barrier, or just need a little extra support from a pharmacist. At an NCPA conference, Dr. Momah shared how she has been able to overcome imposter syndrome to celebrate her accomplishments, to continue advocating for her patients, and to keep them at the heart of her work and her mission!
