125 Heroes: Edward McGinley, PharmD, RPh

Dr. Edward G. McGinley, class of 1977, has had a varied and productive career as a pharmacist in public service and national leadership. He served seventeen years on the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy — including serving as board president and chairperson of the Rules and Regulations Committee. During his tenure, the Board accomplished a new Pharmacy Practice Act, electronic prescription standards, technician registration, pharmacist immunization authority, collaborative practice guidelines, sterile and non-sterile compounding regulations, and multiple revisions of the NJ Administrative Code.

Dr. McGinley also served as president and chairperson of NABP, along with service on task forces addressing drugs lost in transit, medication errors, prescription drug diversion, and prescription drug monitoring standards.

He has received many awards, including the Bowl of Hygeia from the New Jersey Pharmacists Association, Pharmacist of the Year from the New Jersey Council of Chain Drug Stores, the Dean Joseph B. Sprowls Award, and induction into Temple University's Gallery of Success in 2017. He has been a member of the TUSP Board of Visitors, and endowed a scholarship in 2025.

As a founding partner of Pharmacy Management Consultants, LLC, he provides expertise in pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, procurement, and technology; his work supports pharmacies, distributors, manufacturers, law firms, and health care systems.
