125 Heroes: Ed Casey, MBA '96, BSPharm '88

Edward Casey is currently a national payer medical lead for Pfizer, Inc., where he is responsible for the clinical relationship for Pfizer with several leading payer organizations and for providing strategic direction and insights in multiple therapeutic areas and evidence generation. His career at Pfizer has also included time as a regional medical outcomes and analytics specialist, assisting health systems in improving the screening and diagnosis of patients with various diseases.

Prior to his time in the industry, Mr. Casey worked in multiple clinical settings including as a pharmacist at Hahnemann Hospital. He eventually moved to Crozer-Keystone Health System, where he held roles of increasing responsibility, culminating in the health-system director of pharmacy. 

His 35-year career has been highlighted by the early adoption of technology in pharmacy and advancing the clinical and operational aspects of health-system pharmacy practice. He has co-authored multiple papers, served on numerous advisory boards and professional organizations on the local and national levels and consulted on health system and pharmacy industry aspects.

Ed is a 1988 graduate of the School of Pharmacy, earned an MBA from the Fox School of Business in 1996 and completed a fellowship in executive pharmacy leadership at Wharton. He has continued to serve Temple University as adjunct faculty, guest lecturer and student mentor. He is past-president of the School of Pharmacy Alumni Association and serves as current chair of the School's Board of Visitors. As president, he worked tirelessly to bring visibility, alumni engagement and increased support to the School.
