125 Heroes: Lawrence Carey, PharmD ‘93, ‘89

Dr. Lawrence Carey has served as a faculty member and administrator at Temple University School of Pharmacy since 2012 and currently holds the role of Vice Dean for Strategic Planning and Assessment. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Temple in 1989 and was a member of the School’s first Doctor of Pharmacy graduating class in 1993. He also completed a residency at Temple University Hospital.

Dr. Carey has been actively involved in professional organizations, serving in the House of Delegates for both the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists , and as an ACPE site visitor. He co-authored ASHP’s Minimum Standards for Home Care Pharmacies and has held leadership roles as president of both the Delaware Valley Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Pennsylvania Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, his interests include accreditation compliance and board exam preparation. A highly regarded educator, Dr. Carey has been named Teacher of the Year five times across three institutions and received the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2023.
