125 Heroes: Jason C. Gallagher, PharmD

Jason C. Gallagher is a Clinical Professor at Temple University School of Pharmacy, where he has served the institution for more than two decades. A nationally recognized expert in antimicrobial pharmacotherapy, Dr. Gallagher is the co-author of Antibiotics Simplified, now in its fifth edition and used by pharmacy and medical students across the country. He has also severed as President of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists.

His research contributions include more than 75 peer-reviewed publications and over 140 meeting abstracts,including work with the IDSA COVID-19 treatment guidelines panel during the pandemic and numerous studies of carbapenem-resistant organisms. Although research is not a primary expectation of his role, he has secured more than $560,000 in sponsored research funding as principal investigator. He serves as Editor in Chief of Contagion Live, a leading clinical publication in infectious diseases, and an Associate Editor of Clinical Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Gallagher's dedication to Temple has been recognized with the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award, multiple Golden Apple Awards, and the Faculty Senate Outstanding Service Award. He currently serves as Coordinator of Post-Graduate Training Success, helping students navigate their postdoctoral journeys, and previously directed TUSP's PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency for sixteen years.
