Dr. Theodore Kallelis, PHM'54, served as professor and chair of the Department of Pharmacognosy at TUSP for two decades.
A well-published author both in the scientific and lay literature, Dr. Kallelis spent his career looking at poisonings with mushrooms and beans, including identifying deadly toxins.
Temple recognized his long service by granting him professor emeritus status, but his real legacy is the pharmacists and scientists he taught. Established in 2011 by a bequest from his wife Sophia, the Kallelis Graduate Student Endowed Fund is designated for the support of outstanding TUSP graduate students in his memory.
