125 Heroes: Michael Mancano, PharmD ‘93, ‘87

Dr. Mancano is a clinical professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Temple University School of Pharmacy, where he has served for more than thirty years. He previously served as chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice for ten years and as assistant dean for student affairs and operations. He currently serves as senior vice dean, with administrative oversight of student services, student success, academic standing, operations, information technology, and Academic and Professional Integrity Committee.

Dr. Mancano teaches and coordinates multiple courses within the PharmD curriculum, including Drug Information Skills, Professional Practice, Biostatistics and Medical Literature Evaluation, and Seminar in Pharmaceutical Ethics. He is actively engaged in co-curricular and interprofessional education, including leadership of the APhA Pathways Program and facilitation of interprofessional learning experiences. He also serves as a preceptor for fourth-year APPE students in Internal Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital.

In 2025, Dr. Mancano received the Joseph B. Sprowls, Jr. Lecture Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the School and the pharmacy profession. His sustained excellence in teaching has been recognized through multiple honors, including three American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Awards, the Golden Apple Award, and the G. John DiGregorio Distinguished Teaching Award.
