TUSP Organ donor awareness event

Organ Donation Advocacy Workgroup is a student-led group focusing on the importance of organ donation. Our group, which consists for students, residents, and pharmacists, hosts events to make organ donation a topic of interest. On March 28th, we hosted our Third Annual Organ Donor Recipient Night, where we invited The Cooper Family and Sharon Ryan. The Cooper Family had three family members who received a kidney transplant, two of which had donated a kidney prior to needing one. Sharon Ryan is a nurse and kidney transplant coordinator on the transplant team at CHOP who received a kidney transplant approximately 12 years ago within the same institute. This year, about 45 students/faculty/staff within the health sciences campus, joined us to hear the speakers’ stories and emphasize the importance of organ donation and how it has changed their lives.
