BIOSKETCH
Dr. Lawrence Carey serves as Associate Chair and Director of Experiential Education within the Department of Pharmacy Practice, and maintains a clinical practice with PY4 students in internal medicine at Temple University Hospital. He also consults for Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Home Infusion Service. His career includes experience in critical care, nutrition support, internal medicine, and home infusion therapy.
Dr. Carey recently served as president of the Delaware Valley Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He sits on ASHP’s Section Advisory Group (SAG) for home infusion therapy, is a member of the Temple University School of Pharmacy Alumni Association Board, and serves as the alternate ASHP representative to the Joint Commission’s Home Care Professional & Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC), which advises on proposed new and revised standards related to home care and home infusion therapy. His past organizational experience consists of chairing PSHP’s Home Care Committee for 3 consecutive years, chairing PSHP’s Home Care Conference Subcommittee, participation in PSHP’s Education Committee, and serving on ISMP’s Advisory Board.
Dr. Carey has sat on the American Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) Self-Assessment Examination Test Committee and on ASHP’s Committee for Government Relations and Public Policy. He was a co-author of ASHP’s Minimum Standard for Home Care Pharmacies.
