Temple University School of Pharmacy’s Graduate Certificate in Applied Health Outcomes and Artificial Intelligence (AI) prepares graduates to lead in a rapidly evolving, data-driven healthcare landscape.

The Applied Health Outcomes and AI graduate certificate experience

Take advantage of this 12-credit graduate certificate, offered with fully online courses. 

Students complete the following required courses.

  • Foundations of Health Outcomes and Real-World Evidence (3 credits)
  • Machine Learning and Predictive Analytics in Health Outcomes (3 credits)
  • Economic and Value Assessment for Health Outcomes (3 credits)
  • Patient Outcomes and Digital Health (3 credits)

Students gain hands-on experience interpreting complex healthcare data, applying AI-enabled analytical approaches, and communicating findings to diverse stakeholders. The curriculum emphasizes real-world application over technical programming, enabling learners to confidently work with large-scale datasets - from electronic health records to digital health technologies - and translate insights into action.

Students who complete the certificate may apply their learning in roles that involve:

  • Health outcomes or value‑focused decision support
  • Interpretation and communication of clinical, economic, or patient‑centered evidence
  • Evaluation of AI‑enabled tools used in healthcare decision environments
  • Support of payer, provider, industry, or policy decision‑making processes

Application Information

Application Process
  1. Set up an account on our Graduate Application Portal. Once you complete the form, you will receive an email to complete your set up. 
  2. Complete all of the required personal information in the Application Portal.
  3. Submit all required documents, as listed below. 

Once all documents have been received, your application will be submitted to our review panel for evaluation. A faculty member will be in touch within a week of submitting your application with a timeline for an admissions decision. Most applicants receive a decision within 2–3 weeks of completing their application.

Application Requirements
  • A baccalaureate degree in a related discipline is required, with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred. Applicants with substantial professional or research experience may be considered holistically.
  • Letters of Reference: Two (2) letters of recommendation are required from college/university faculty members familiar with the applicant's academic competence and or from professionals in a supervisory position.
  • Transcripts: Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended may be sent electronically to . Alternately, unopened official transcripts bearing the school's seal must be sent directly from the Registrar at each institution to the School of Pharmacy's Office of Graduate Studies. 
  • Resume: Current resume or CV is required.
  • Statement of Goals: In approximately 300 to 500 words, applicants should provide an overview of their professional or academic background, why they are interested in applied health outcomes and AI, and how this certificate aligns with their career goals.
  • Standardized Test Scores: Applicants who earned a bachelor’s degree from a school where classes were not taught in English must submit scores from a standardized English language test that meet the following minimum requirements. This does not apply to applicants who later earned a master’s degree from a U.S. institution. Minimum scores are:
    • TOEFL iBT: 85
    • IELTS Academic: 6.5
    • PTE Academic: 58
