Professor Gallagher Awarded COVID-19 Funding by Merck

Dr. Jason Gallagher, clinical professor and director of the PGY2 Residency in Infectious Diseases Pharmacy, has received a grant through the Merck Investigator Studies Program for “An evaluation of factors influencing the development of superinfection in COVID‐19 patients.” His study seeks to determine the factors that influence whether people who have COVID-19 pneumonia develop or present with other infections, which will provide guidance for decreasing unnecessary antibiotic use.
