Kyle Lamb, PY4 Receives 2020 PSHP Student Award

Kyle Lamb, a fourth year Doctor of Pharmacy student at the Temple University School of Pharmacy, has been named the recipient of the 2020 Pennsylvania Society of Health-System Pharmacists Student Award.

The PSHP Student Award is given annually to a Doctor of Pharmacy student in Pennsylvania who has demonstrated active participation and interest in health-systems pharmacy practice and been active in professional organizations, including PSHP. Awardees also have experience in a hospital or health-systems facility. Nominations for the Award are sought from the local chapters and the general membership.

Starting as a PY1, Kyle worked his way up through the ranks of the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy (SSHP) serving on various committees along the way to the top as President.

Anisha Grover, PharmD, BCACP Director, Office of Experiential Education Clinical Associate Professor Department of Pharmacy Practice contributed to Kyle’s nomination. Dr. Grover worked closely with Kyle on the annual SSHP Mentor Night Event Planning Committee.

“Through these roles, he has overseen several workgroups and has strategized to increase student participation and engagement. He has also worked to train younger student leaders to facilitate continuity in leadership from year to year,” Dr. Grover stated.

Dr. Grover further explained her role enthusiasm for nominating Kyle.

"In my time working with Mr. Lamb, it is apparent that he is a leader that is dedicated to his academic coursework, his professional responsibilities outside the classroom, his future roles as a pharmacist, and the mentorship and support of peer colleagues. He serves as a role model, takes hands-on action to guide peers and achieve tasks, and motivates students to get involved in impacting the profession at a level that extends beyond the School of Pharmacy."

Kyle encourages pharmacy students to get involved with professional organizations. He attributes both his growth as a professional and the growth of his network to these experiences.

“I had an amazing experience as a DVSHP (Delaware Valley Society of Health-System Pharmacists) student workgroup member and as our Temple University chapter's SSHP president. I'm honored to receive this award and it would not have been possible without my amazing SSHP advisors Dr. Frimpong and Dr. Grover, and my fantastic SSHP eboard,” Kyle stated.
