Temple University School of Pharmacy (TUSP) has announced the alumni and friends who will be honored at its 125th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, November 5, at the Down Town Club by Cescaphe. The awards recognize individuals whose careers and contributions reflect the leadership, innovation, and service that have defined the School of Pharmacy for the last 125 years.
This year’s winners are:
- Peter H. Doukas Service Award: Deborah and Robert Schueren, PHR '85
- H. E. Kendig Leadership Award: Devendra Patel, CST '05
- Pharmaceutical Innovation Award: Stella Vnook, CLA '96, PHR '00.
The Peter H. Doukas Service Award Award – one of the most prestigious awards bestowed upon a TUSP alumni - recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership, vision, and dedication through contributions that have advanced their profession or community while inspiring others through exemplary service.
This year's recipients, Deborah and Robert Schueren, PHR '85, will be honored for their distinguished reputation across the life sciences and drug development fields, and for their accomplished careers in biotechnology. The Schuerens have also created numerous scholarships for current students at TUSP to encourage and support the next generation of pharmacy professionals. Their contributions reflect the spirit of service the award was created to celebrate.
The H. E. Kendig Leadership Award honors an individual for outstanding professional achievements and lasting contributions to the field of pharmacy.
Devendra Patel, CST '05, will receive this year's award in recognition of his visionary leadership in building InfuCare Rx into a national leader in home infusion therapy, and for his enduring commitment to advancing patient care. Patel's work has helped shape how patients across the country access life-sustaining infusion therapies outside the hospital setting.
The Pharmaceutical Innovation Award recognizes a Temple University School of Pharmacy graduate for pioneering advancements in pharmaceutical research, development, or technology that have significantly improved patient care, treatment outcomes, or the advancement of medicine.
Stella Vnook, CLA '96, PHR '00, is this year's honoree, recognized for a legacy of impactful healthcare innovations that have advanced science and improved lives on a global scale through her work in the pharmaceutical industry and with various biotech initiatives. Vnook's career exemplifies the kind of innovation TUSP aims to cultivate in every graduate who walks through its doors.
The honorees will be celebrated in person at the 125th Anniversary Celebration, a milestone event marking the legacy of Temple University School of Pharmacy's impact on the pharmacy profession. Dean S. Suresh Madhavan will present the awards.
