Today, Temple University’s School of Pharmacy (TUSP) proudly honored Senior Vice Dean and Clinical Professor Dr. Michael Mancano, ’92, '87, at this year’s Joseph B. Sprowls Lecture.
Dr. Mancano delivered an outstanding lecture entitled “TUSP at 125 Years: Past, Present, and Future,” reflecting on his educational journey, professional experience, and the evolution of pharmacy practice. He also highlighted Temple’s long-standing commitment to supporting hardworking students, from its origins offering night classes to becoming a competitive, nationally recognized program dedicated to developing strong, well-rounded pharmacy professionals.
Selected annually by the Alumni Association, the Joseph B Sprowls Lecture honors an individual who has made a significant impact on TUSP and the pharmacy profession.
Dr. Mancano received his BSPharm from TUSP in 1987; was a member of the inaugural TUSP PharmD graduating class in 1992; and completed a postgraduate fellowship at Temple University Hospital in 1994. Dr. Mancano has been a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Temple University School of Pharmacy for almost 30 years and currently serves as the Senior Vice Dean and Clinical Professor. Previously, Dr. Mancano practiced as a pharmacy manager in a community pharmacy, consulted for the pharmaceutical industry, and held clinical pharmacist positions in community and university hospitals. Dr. Mancano has been twice awarded the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award, the Golden Apple Award at the School of Pharmacy for teaching innovation, and the G. John DiGregorio, MD, PhD Award for Distinguished Teaching.
