Pharmaceutical Sciences and Early Assurance Program ( 0 to 6 PharmD)
Temple University School of Pharmacy (TUSP) provides a seamless path into the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program for qualified undergraduate students. Students who are admitted to Temple University as a Pharmaceutical Sciences major can choose to follow one of two paths:
• Early Assurance Program (0 to 6 year PharmD)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences
Early Assurance Program
Jumpstart your pharmacy career with Temple University’s Pre-Pharmacy Early Assurance Program! This program is designed for high school students committed to becoming pharmacists, and offers a fast, efficient, and cost-effective pathway to a PharmD. You can earn your PharmD in six years out of high school, while reducing tuition costs. This program consists of two-years of undergraduate Pre-Pharmacy course work and 4-years in the professional PharmD program. By meeting the progression requirements of the two-year Pre-Pharmacy program, you will be granted a seat in the first professional year of the PharmD Program at TUSP.
Benefits of the Early Assurance Program
In the Pre-Pharmacy Early Assurance Program track, you'll study a combination of basic sciences, social sciences, mathematics, and humanities. This well-rounded curriculum prepares you for success in the School of Pharmacy by providing a deep understanding and application of foundational sciences .and advancements shaping modern healthcare.
You'll have the opportunity to engage closely with the School of Pharmacy admissions faculty and staff for personalized support. Academic advising will be provided by Academic Resource Center in the Office of Undergraduate Studies in addition to the School of Pharmacy. Undergraduate Studies and Pre-Professional Health advisors are also a resource for all pre-professional health students. and the School of Pharmacy admissions faculty and staff for personalized support. Additionally, TUSP offers a pre-pharmacy club and a variety of student clubs and professional organizations, allowing you to develop leadership skills, explore your interest, and build lasting connections. All required undergraduate courses are offered on Temple University’s main campus. The PharmD program is offered at Temple University School of Pharmacy on the Health Science campus.
Admission Requirements
All accepted first-year pre-pharmacy students at Temple University are enrolled directly into the early assurance program. First year admission criteria
This admission ensures progression into the PharmD professional program as long as students maintain our pre-requisite GPA requirement, application to PharmCas, and successful completion of an interview.
Temple University undergraduate students who are not enrolled in the Early Assurance Program or undergraduate students at other colleges or universities may still apply to our PharmD program through PharmCAS.
If you have chosen the Pre-pharmacy/BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences pathway to enter Temple University you have the option of choosing to stay in the pre-pharmacy (Early Assurance Program) track to enter the Doctor of Pharmacy professional degree program or choose the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences pathway to get an undergraduate degree. You can make your choice early in the first year or do it whenever you are sure about your career path
