Current degree program: PharmD
Projected graduation year: 2027
Where did you grow up? Kingston, Jamaica
Where did you complete your prerequisite courses? I earned a BS in Biochemistry and Neuroscience from Syracuse University
Tell us about yourself: I’m one of five siblings, so I’ve always been used to having people around—though as the middle child, I’ll admit I love a bit of attention! My passion for research began during my undergraduate years doing wet lab work, which eventually gave me the incredible opportunity to live and conduct research in Austria for three months. That experience not only deepened my love for science but also sparked my passion for traveling and exploring new experiences. I hope to channel my curiosity and love of research into making a meaningful impact in the pharmaceutical industry—particularly in advancing innovation and improving patient outcomes. Outside of school, my partner and I love taking our 9-year-old Chihuahua on long walks, any form of reality TV, and I plan on competing on the Amazing Race one day.
Why did you choose TUSP over other pharmacy schools? When it came to choosing a pharmacy school, I took the same approach I did when applying to college—I only applied to one institution because I knew exactly where I wanted to be. Temple University has a long-standing reputation for producing exceptional talent, and its strong alumni network and sense of community made it the perfect place for me to grow both personally and professionally.
What do you hope to do after graduation? Pharmaceutical industry research
What's your favorite thing about pharmacy school? My favorite thing about pharmacy school—especially at TUSP—is seeing how I can bring together my love for biochemistry and neuroscience and apply it to create tangible changes within the clinical setting. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how the science I’ve always been passionate about can directly impact patient care and outcomes.
What's the hardest thing about pharmacy school and how do you deal with it? Remembering all the brand and generic names for each medication has definitely been one of the biggest challenges. I manage this through repetition and by using visual cues to help me make stronger connections between the drug names and their uses.
What do you like to do in your free time? Going to Concerts, watching reality tv, traveling, and spending time with family and friends
What are you currently reading/watching/listening to? Lately, I’ve been keeping up with The Amazing Race, Survivor, and The Real Housewives. I love a bit of competition and drama! In between episodes, you’ll usually find me listening to Adele or Beyoncé; their music is always on repeat for me.
What advice do you have for prospective students? Being in a doctoral program, its very easy to loose balance of the the things that are important to you. Find a way to prioritize school, work, organization, and your personal life. Pharmacy school will have its ups and downs, but it’s important to make time for the things and people you love along the way. Try to enjoy the process; every challenge brings you one step closer to graduation and becoming the pharmacist you’ve always wanted to be.
