Dr. Whitman Named Interim Chair of Pharmacy Practice
Craig Whitman, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP has been named Interim Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice effective September 1, 2020. He will also remain a Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice and maintain his practice and experiential site in the Medical/Respiratory Intensive Care Unit at Temple University Hospital.
Dr. Whitman joined the School of Pharmacy in 2014 from Barnes Jewish Hospital where he worked as a Clinical Pharmacist in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Prior to joining Barnes, he was an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at University of the Sciences where he also developed and served as Director of the PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program.
Having just completed his term as President of the School's Collegial Assembly, Dr. Whitman is uniquely connected with current faculty issues and is eager to assist, for example, with the ongoing refinement of asynchronous distance learning at the School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Whitman has authored several peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and poster presentations and has delivered numerous invited professional presentations. His research interests are centered on outcomes of critically ill patients related to drug therapy, specifically in the areas of pain, agitation, and delirium and stress ulcer prophylaxis.
