Research Focus & Practice
Dr. Rodriguez’s clinical ambulatory care site is with the Temple Internal Medicine Associates clinic and focuses on chronic disease state management. Patients are seen on a referral basis and pharmacists independently manage and care for these patients under collaborative practice agreements for diabetes, anticoagulation, hypertension, dyslipidemia, smoking cessation, gout, and chronic refills. Patients are seen for other medication related issues under the direct supervision of an attending physician. Students participate in all services in clinic, including optimizing drug therapy, medication reconciliations, preventative medicine services, and managing medication-related issues. All patient visits and interactions are documented in the electronic medical record. Students will also have ample opportunities to answer drug information questions from the interns and residents and collaborate with other members of the healthcare team.
Key Interests: diabetes; cardiovascular disease; transitions of care; medication management
