Temple Sweeps Awards at Regional Student National Pharmaceutical Association Conference

Temple University students took home several awards from the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) Regions I and II Annual Conference. The event was held on March 10-11, 2023, in Washington, DC.

PY3 Anita Hu and PY2 Johnny Nguyen won First Place and PY2s Sarah Uddin and Elias Nowroozi won Second Place in the Clinical Skills Competition.

Temple's SNPhA chapter won the Attendance Award, acknowledging the chapter with the most attendees at the conference, and the Reion I Top Recruiter award for extraordinary efforts in membership recruiting.

In addition, Lawrence P. Carey, BSPharm, PharmD, Assistant Dean for Assessment & Quality and Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice served as the conference's Keynote Speaker.

"By the nature of your membership in this organization and the work that you do with your chapters at your schools on an everyday basis - tells me that this group is something special and that you realize the importance - and the urgency - and the need - the basic human need - for patients to be seen and heard," Dr. Carey stated in his address.

"SNPhA is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are concerned about the profession of pharmacy, healthcare issues, and the poor minority representation in these areas. The purpose of SNPhA is to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute programs geared toward the improvement of the health, educational, and social environment of minority communities," SNPhA states on their website.

Temple's SNPhA chapter also recently hosted Black History Month Spirit Week. Leaders and members coordinated a multicultural trivia competition, imposter syndrome panel discussion, privilege walk, and career panel.
