Temple University IDs (TUid) and OWLcards

Temple’s TUid –for your security
Temple University is concerned about protecting your identity. Social security numbers are not used as the primary means of identification within the University. Instead, the first time you register for a course at Temple, you are issued a TUid number to protect your personal information and identity.

Please understand that you must use your TUid to: register, request academic information, drop and add classes, and perform all other administrative functions within Temple. Your Social Security number will only be requested for routine administrative functions as required by law, including tax purposes and the first time a student registers at Temple.

OWLcards

You may obtain a Temple ID card (also known as an OWLcard) with your TUid number at the Ambler Campus (West Hall, 580 Meetinghouse Rd, Ambler, PA) during regular office hours (generally 8:30 to 6:00 Mondays through Thursdays and 8:30 to 4:30 on Fridays). Please contact Cathy Kelly, Assistant Director - Academice Services, at Ambler at 267.468.8260 to arrange a time. For directions to the Ambler Campus, please call the RAQA Office (267.468.8560).

OWLcards are usually required for entrance to all Temple buildings, including libraries, reccreational facilities, and classrooms. You must also show an OWLcard to use Temple computer labs.

Remote students:
The Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance Office issues your TUid number the first time you register for a Temple course. If you lose your TUid number, just call the RAQA Office (267-468-8560), and we can tell you what it is.

Remote students may obtain OWLcards without traveling to Philadelphia, including Apple iPhone, Apple Watch, and Androids.
