The Department of Pharmacy Practice at Temple University School of Pharmacy is seeking candidates for a tenure track faculty position with a focus on health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) or pharmacoeconomics. The preferred appointment will be at the Associate or Professor level although candidates of all levels will be considered based on individual qualifications.
Candidates with an expertise in Pharmacy Administration, Pharmacoeconomics, or Health Outcomes are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. degree in Social/Behavioral/Administrative Sciences or a related field or a Pharm.D. degree with advanced training or experience in a social or administrative science discipline (e.g. fellowship in Pharmacoeconomics, Health Outcomes or a Masters in Public Health). Candidates with expertise in the area of Innovation, Behavioral Economics, and Pharmaco-vigilance, and digital data analysis (i.e. data science, EMR aggregate data, claims data, and Medicare/Medicaid data) are of interest. Appointment at the Associate or Professor levels requires demonstrated sustained extramural grant support, research, scholarship, and teaching proficiency (i.e. a strong commitment to innovative teaching) that are consistent with appointment to that rank at a research-intensive university. The candidate is expected to compete for independent and collaborative funding from public and private sector sources.
The preferred faculty candidate will be expected to provide didactic education to students in the Doctor of Pharmacy program, graduate program, and participate in a collaborative interdisciplinary research environment with faculty and clinicians within the School of Pharmacy, on the Health Science Campus or University. This individual will also be expected to engage in service-related activities within the School and University. Applicants must have excellent communication and leadership skills as well as share in our commitment to preparing future leaders of the pharmacy profession.
Temple University School of Pharmacy has implemented a dynamic curriculum utilizing a variety of innovative teaching techniques. Faculty members have access to state-of-the-art simulated clinical facilities and various technologies to assist them in developing active learning pedagogies. The philosophy of the School of Pharmacy is to foster individual growth and to encourage faculty members to dedicate their time and efforts in areas where they will be most productive and successful.
The School supports one PGY1 and four PGY2 residencies and two industry fellowship positions. Clinical faculty are also involved in mentoring and precepting PGY1 residents within the Temple University Health System. The School’s location on our Health Sciences Campus provides abundant opportunities to collaborate with other health professional educators, clinicians, and researchers. Faculty members are engaged in collaborative research relationships with colleagues in the Katz School of Medicine, the Kornberg School of Dentistry, and the Temple University Hospital and Health System.
Temple University School of Pharmacy is in the midst of unprecedented growth with the goal to significantly enhance its research capabilities. The School houses a Facility for Pharmacokinetics and Bioanalysis, the Jayne Haines Center for Pharmacogenomics and Drug Safety, a cGMP facility, and the Moulder Center for Drug Discovery Research.
